Flooded Waterfall Bali: No Swimming, but found Gym Rings!
Went to this random waterfall in Bali with the intention of having a swim. It had however rained recently, therefore there was a lot of flooding and the water wasn't suitable to swim in.
I did however come across some gym rings which were a nice surprise. The rings themselves were rusty and really thin, so they weren't the most comfortable to hold. That being said it was still fun and quite unexpected!
Please don't judge my form too harshly!

20m Freediving Practice - CWT (4x duck dives 5m pool)

Training for a 20m constant weight freedive in a 5 metre deep pool (duck dives x4). This apnea practice is in Malaysia and is in preparation for my Padi Advanced Freediver course. Suburi / Swinging Moment - Same but Different
Переглядів 28810 місяців тому
This is an example of swinging movements (or Suburi) using a 4kg Gada (mace), 3kg Furibo (also known as a Kanabo, Tetsubo or Suburito) and a 1kg Jo (staff). Although these all have different weight and balance, the mechanics of the movement are pretty much the same. The heavier weight essentially amplifies mistakes that may occur with the lighter weighted objects. The aim of the exercise is to ...

    that movement pattern would make more sense with a Montante. Because of the 180° turn, we always have that with the big swords.

    • @AlexanderGent
      @AlexanderGent 7 днів тому

      Yes it would good to use a Montante, unfortunately I don't have one! However, its still a good exercise with the longsword and movements can still be applied with other weapons, such as a staff.

  • @daha2640
    @daha2640 9 днів тому

    I can not recomment anyone to practice with this video. It is wrong in so many aspects. The Jo is meant to be held at the edge and 1/3rd of the length. The way he holds the staff he would lose grip at the first enemy strike. The tip is meant to aim on the head of the enemy instead of the belly... Feet are supposed to face outwards... and many more mistakes...

    • @AlexanderGent
      @AlexanderGent 9 днів тому

      Thanks for the comment. Im curious to know where the edge of the Jo is considering its cylindrical? 🤔 You are welcome to think what you like. I will be interested to see some footage of how you use the Jo. Perhaps you can upload some videos onto your channel? I've had no issues before when Ive applied it in kumjo or in sparring. Im curious to know what experience you have?

      Im the one with shorts on. Im using mainly Jo techniques with some longsword. The guy on the right is the HEMA practitioner. From what I recall hes done a bit of Wushu or Shaolin long staff but not any short staff.

    Do yall understand how retarded this looks? This looks like good exercise for elderly people but as an actual fighting technique this is straight up braindead. 1) This entire video showcases an attacker or defender putting both their hands on the defenders arm to have leverage. think about this for a second, why would an attacked grab your forearm with both their hands?? Why would they not just body slam you for leverage? or grab you around the waist like ACTUAL fighters do? The attacker in this scenario would be doing exactly what the defender wants him to do... which obviously doesn't happen in a real fight 2) An attacker has both his arms across his body trying to hold you're forearm (??) and your plan of action is to flip him on his back with little to no force? Are you aware you have a WHOLE OTHER ARM? An attacker grabs your forearm with both hands and using all of his leverage to hold your forearm (again ??), your next course of action should be to use your free arm to counter strike or takedown. You have a whole other arm you could wail into the opponents head and midsection and your plan is to flip the dude... pure retardation and terrible combat teaching. 3) for example, at 1:17 the attacker has both arms extended, is off balanced, and is using all his leverage to try to hold your arm (which of course would never happen in a real fight). Instead of doing some mojo bullshit to flip him on his back for no reason, you should be leveraging your off balance opponent and use your free arm to take him down at his midsection. That way, when you get your opponent on the ground, you can be on top of him with your whole body weight and already be ready to strike while their down, as opposed to just flipping them for absolutely no reason. TLDR; this shit is stupid EDIT: could you imagine a fighting style where your end result is pushing somebody down with your back turned to them? Pause at 2:29... this is supposed to be the culmination of this technique? Your body is not oriented towards your opponent and the attacker on the ground clearly has a perfect opportunity for a leg sweep or ground takedown. If fighting a real opponent you'd actually be at a disadvantage after taking them down.... lmfao
